Applied Studies in Integrated Health and Social Care (Online) - AdvDip / BSc / BSc (Hons)

The course is delivered entirely online and will develop your academic and decision-making skills whilst working within your field of practice. You will experience an enriching student-centered approach to your learning experience that supports the achievement of personal and workplace goals.   

The course enhances your employability in practice through developing transferrable graduate skills in independent learning, self-assessment, reflection, taking initiative and managing your time, taking leadership and responsibility towards workplace initiatives whilst communicating and co-operating with relevant practitioners across sector.

What's covered in the course?

Advanced Diploma and BSc (Ordinary top up degree)

This 6-month course is delivered via 3 core modules, delivered entirely online. All 3 modules are required to gain an Award of Advanced Diploma. The 3 modules include Essential skills for Evidence Based Practice; Communication in health & social care and Leading service improvement in contemporary practice. There is opportunity to APL previous level 6 study and is assessed on a case-by-case basis. All module dates and assessments are scheduled throughout the term.

BSc (Hons) top up degree

This 15-month course is delivered via 6 modules (5 core modules and 1 optional module), delivered entirely online. All 6 modules are required to gain an Award of BSc (Hons) degree (120 credits level 6). The 6 modules include Essential skills for Evidence Based Practice; Communication in health & social care and Leading service improvement in contemporary practice; Developing learning and Teaching; Studying a negotiated topic. The menu of options include Long Term Conditions; Applied physiology and pharmacology and Developing Specialist practice.

There is opportunity to APL previous level 6 study and is assessed on a case-by-case basis. All module dates and assessments are scheduled throughout the term.

There are no competencies assigned to this mode of study.

The course is facilitated by a range of health and social care tutors who have experience in national and international teaching and research.  You will also have a Personal Tutor to support you throughout your studies.

You can expect a high level of interaction and contact with tutors and fellow students: It is recognised that active engagement is key to student success on their course.  You will experience a varied diet of facilitated independent and collective self-paced and structured teaching, learning and assessment activities which aims to promote meaningful learning. The course will apply audio, video and text-based lectures, quizzes and forum activities for practice sharing and feedback purposes.  

There is a strong focus on academic and evidence based skills, communication and leadership service improvement skills across health and social care.
