This degree scheme offers more flexibility than our IBMS-accredited Biomedical Science degree. This Biomedicine degree is aimed at those with a broad interest in human life processes and disease. It involves the study of subjects such as biochemistry, cell biology, genetics and physiology which are at the heart of modern medical and health research. These subjects are taught with a particular emphasis on the molecules and mechanisms fundamental to life processes and how these are disrupted by disease. You’ll begin your degree with the study of 15 wide-ranging compulsory modules, including Biomedical Science in Practice, Infection and Immunity and Protein Biochemistry. You will spend your second year at a university in Australasia, Canada or the USA. During this year you will take modules which have been approved by the Department and which ensure that you are prepared for the modules you’ll take when you return for your final year. The difference is that you gain from a different perspective, another context on the topics and a different outlook. All of this differentiates you from students who have remained in Lancaster and serves to build your confidence and CV credentials.
