Are you interested in helping students with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities or other special needs? The School of Education at Utah Valley University is now offering a major in Special Education. There is a constant demand for special education teachers year after year in K-12 settings. The BS in Special Education will prepare undergraduate students for a Utah Teaching Certificate in K-12 Special Education in mild/moderate disabilities. The bachelor's degree program covers general education courses in addition to special education coursework over four years (122 credits). The core special education courses concentrate on the knowledge and skills needed for the education of students with disabilities. Through required electives, students can choose to specialize in concentration areas such as in AUTISM Studies. Students can also choose the DUAL licensure option and graduate with a teaching license in general and special education.
